You are our GREATEST Adventure | Lifestyle Newborn Photography

This new little guy is ready to explore! His parents have been waiting very patiently for this rainbow baby’s arrival. Welcome to the forest Talon! He was alert and calm throughout his 12 day old in-home photo shoot. He only slept for a short few minutes and definitely wanted to wiggle his arms & fingers out of the swaddle blanket and move his eyes around trying to figure out what was going on in his darling woodland decor nursery. His mom and dad are super creative and built the rustic reclaimed wood mountain peaks wall decor themselves. A totally amazing and cozy space! What a loved and cherished bear cub Talon is! A pleasure to snap some photos of him to document this fleeting first week-ish of his life.

Kid Model Headshots | Denver Model & Actor Photographer

In the model industry, having some great photos is an important part of making an impession. Kid models will need some headshots for their portfolio page and comp card once they’ve been accepted to be represented by an agency. Becoming a model takes more work than a lot of people realize. It’s not just being a pretty face. In my opinion, every child is beautiful, yes, your child is the cutest kid on earth, but child modeling in front of a camera requires some natural or learned talent, skill, an outgoing, flexible personality and can take awhile to practice auditioning, landing gigs and performing. Agencies are looking for a variety of different looks.
Is your child photogenic, charismatic, uniquely talented, comfortable taking direction from adult strangers, able to patiently hang out on potentially long jobs, confident and ready to handle rejection?
Are you thinking about having your child try their hand at modeling? I suggest you take just a few good snapshots of your child in a cute, neutral color outfit, no makeup, and take one close-up and a full body shot to submit to agencies. Do your research and locate a few of the most reputable talent agencies in your area. Some agencies have open call auditions to locate new talent and others will allow you to just simply email/send your photos to them for review. A few reputable and legit modeling/acting/talent agencies that I know of in the Denver, Colorado area include Donna Baldwin Agency, Wilhelmina, Big Fish Talent and Maximum Talent Agency. Check these companies out to see if they are accepting new kid talent and find out the details of their requirements to submit your child. Once your child has been asked to do a contract with a good agency, then I encourage you to find a photographer that can snap some professional photos of your child that will be used on the agency’s website and for sharing with their potential clients. Getting 2-3 different looks/outfits is suggested for headshots.
This doll here, Emmie, just landed her first modeling contract, so her mom wanted to get some natural, bright headshots of her to showcase that cutie face! Good luck Emmie! I hope you have a lot of fun on your modeling auditions!

Family Photos | Downtown Denver RiNo District | Love this City!

A family photo session helps capture memories that can be enjoyed forever! Whether it’s an annual tradition for your family or the first time in a long time that you’re setting up family photos, spending that time together, having some fun and getting photos done makes for an adventure that you can cherish. I love for you to feel as comfortable as possible during our session, so planning ahead just a little can be helpful. The Romeros set up a session for me to take some family pictures as well as snap a handful of senior photos for their son. I am loving their crisp and preppy navy blue, white and khaki color-coordinating outfits against the gritty textures the murals and vibe Downtown RiNo District offers. I absolutely love mom’s sassy heels, which can be a great way to elongate the legs and dress up a casual outfit just a bit! Think color coordinating, not necessrily matching, when planning your outfits of ‘What to Wear’ for a photo shoot. Don’t wait until the last moment to style yourselves, if at all possible. I met the Romero family in front of Denver Central Market and they came ready with style, a positive attitude and their older son was so flexible about getting those fun guy poses to make his high school senior pics look great! This setting is really just amazing for capturing fun family pics and senior photos, perfect for your modern teens who want to showcase themselves in a colorful way. There are blocks and blocks of endless possibilities for backdrops at this photo shoot location. And, how about that dog?! The Romeros brought their new, ridiculously cute Sheepadoodle puppy to the session and he was a delight! I’m happy to photograph your pet with your family, if we can make the details work. I know pets are a big part of the family for many of you. It’s not too early to book your Fall Family Photos. My calendar tends to fill up fast in the Fall/Winter months. Interested in a family session with Brooke Austin Photo? I would be thrilled to photograph you next! Thank you Romero family for the vibrant session! You’re a gorgeous family!

E L L E // Creative Portraits | Lakewood, Colorado Photographer

A great shoot location in the Lakewood, Colorado area is Lakewood Heritage Center which is right next door to Bel Mar Park. I love that this Denver central location is just slightly west of the downtown area, not far from my Littleton or Highlands Ranch potential clients and just down the road from people in the Golden, Arvada and Englewood areas too! This is an ideal spot if you’d like some nature backdrops incorporated into your photos, but there are also some really neat structures and vintage looking buildings that can give some rustic textures to your session as well. And, I’ve even found I can mimic a slightly quaint urban vibe against the right walls in this area as well. Depending on the time of year, you can stumble upon wild flowers, tall grass fields, evergreen or crab apple trees, a lake, bushes, natural grasslands and a variety of trees, dirt paths and paved sidewalks, large rocks, open space and historic structures, tractors and other farm inspired buildings too. There’s honestly a little of everything and some fun surprises at this somewhat hidden gem of a photography shoot spot! Here’s a peek at some recent teen’s creative portraits I captured at this fun location. Can you see some of the variety of possibilities for backdrops, in these shots of Elle, if you choose this location for your own photo session? It’s one of my favorite locations to photograph Denver locals.
E L L E ✨ The camera loved this sweet teen!
